Let Vinny Stay!

Two weeks ago in Protect the Dream I introduced you to Denis and Vinny, two engineering students who were on the verge of being kicked out of their country, the United States, for no other reason then their parents brought them here as children and they do not have papers. Well we have some good news! Because of the phone calls that went in and the organizing done by the Student Immigrant Movement Denis Lemos was granted prosecutorial discretion and his deportation case was dropped. However, there is some bad news as well. His friend Vinny Quirino is still in deportation proceedings. But Denis's case gives us hope and shows us the power organizing. We need to keep those phone calls coming in so that Vinny also is granted prosecutorial discretion.  Here is what you can do:

Call 781-359-7500 and press 4# the use the following script - Hello my name is (insert your name), I am from (insert your city) and I am calling to ask Dorthy Herrera - Niles to please grant prosecutorial discretion to Vinny Quirino (A200-618-866). He is a Dreamer who came here as a child, attended high school, graduated with honors and wants to become an engineer to benefit the only country he knows, his home the United States. Please don't take away his dream, grant him prosecutorial discretion. Thank you.

Today I attended a rally in front of Boston City Hall were Vinny and others spoke. Below is a video of Vinny speaking at this rally. The sound quaility is not great because it was recorded on my iPhone but you can hear his fear at being deported and fierce determination to fight to stay in the country he loves. Join me in standing on the side of love and call on ICE to Let Vinny Stay!
